Rivers Casino details spa, lounge plans
A local businesswoman will operate the spa at Rivers Casino and Resort on the Mohawk Harbor site, casino officials announced.
Maria Ho, owner of Splash Nail Spa in Niskayuna, will oversee a spa of the same name at Rivers Casino. Officials released details Sunday regarding the spa and entertainment lounge, both of which will open inside the casino facility in February.
Splash Spa at Rivers Casino will be a full-service spa offering manicures, pedicures, massages, facials and more. The intent is to cater to area residents who want a day of relaxation, in addition to gamblers visiting the casino from out of the area.
“We want to gravitate to all categories,” Ho said. “Whether it’s a mother and daughter getting out for a day, or if you just want a day away from home.”
The spa will employ between 20 and 30 people, she said, all of whom will be hired locally. Ho has been in the Capital Region for about 12 years and opened her Niskayuna nail spa 2 1/2 years ago.
“I wanted to broaden my horizons with the whole spa industry,” she said. “Once the new casino was coming, this was a great opportunity.”
