Ellis chooses Galesi, Columbia Development to build urgent care center
The board of Ellis Medicine has selected The Galesi Group and Columbia Development as the developers of its $3 million urgent care center in Clifton Park.
The Schenectady hospital received state approval in late August for a 38,000-square-foot facility at 103 Sitterly Road. The two-story building will include a 14,000-square-foot enhanced urgent care center, with six treatment bays and full emergency department-level staffing, along with lab, radiology and imaging services.
The other 24,000 square feet will contain medical office space for primary care physicians and specialists.
The Galesi Group, which is based in Rotterdam, and Albany-based Columbia Development formed a joint venture to bid on the project, said Ellis spokeswoman Donna Evans. She said six firms had responded to the hospital’s request for proposals. The decision process took about two months.
Galesi and Columbia will own the building and lease it back to Ellis.
The project still requires the approval of the town of Clifton Park. It next goes before the planning board on May 10.
Ellis hopes to break ground on the center this summer and open it in the summer of 2012.
