Courtyard Marriott in Schenectady Names General Manager & Director of Sales

The Courtyard Marriott in Schenectady has hired General Manager Jeff Michaelson and Director of Sales Tom Gabriel to lead the opening of the hotel in Mohawk Harbor.  The 124 room Courtyard is due to open in October of this year.

Michaelson most recently was the Assistant General Manager at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy, NY.  Prior to that, he has held positions in sales and operations with Hilton, Marriott and as General Manager of Colonie Country Club.  As General Manager of the Courtyard, Jeff will be responsible for all aspects of operations for the hotel.

Tom Gabriel returns to the Capital Region after several years as Director of Sales at the Springhill Suites by Marriott at Old Dominion University.  Prior to his position in VA, Tom worked in sales at the Courtyard by Marriott in Saratoga as well as the Holiday Inn Express in East Greenbush.  In his current role, Tom will be responsible for all aspects of sales and marketing as well as community relations.

Located at Mohawk Harbor, The Courtyard by Marriott is part of a 60-acre master planned community located on Erie Boulevard, a major gateway into the city of Schenectady. This multi-phase Revitalization project restores Schenectady’s riverfront and creates an economically vibrant mixed use community complete with luxury living, hotels, offices, restaurants, retail, and one of NYS’s first licensed casinos.

The hotel will feature 124 spacious rooms, plush bedding and high tech amenities, plus a redesigned lobby serving breakfast, dinner and cocktails in the Bistro.
