Buildings are starting to take shape at Mohawk Harbor
The Galesi Group, one of the largest developers in Upstate New York, has been investing in the Capital Region since 1969. Over the past 16 years alone, the Galesi Group has played a pivotal role in the redevelopment of Schenectady with over $100,000,000 of investments made downtown.
Situated less than a mile from downtown the former American Locomotive Company (ALCO) site was an eyesore at the gateway to Schenectady and Galesi wanted to remove the blight at one of the key entrances to the City.
The vision was to create a mixed use urban development with residential, hotels, office, retail and restaurants along one mile of the waterfront.
Now this vision has been brought to life with construction well underway. A new 3.25 acre harbor was constructed Summer 2015, one of the largest on the Canal, and current construction includes The Riverhouse, a 206 apartment/retail building, a 124 room Courtyard by Marriott, and one of NYS’s 1st licensed casinos, Rivers Casino and Resort.
