David M. Buicko was appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Galesi Group in 1986 and elected as President and Chief Executive Officer in 2016.  He is responsible for the day to day operations of all the company’s divisions including commercial real estate, industrial parks, distribution and logistics.

Mr. Buicko has participated throughout the country in the acquisition and development of over 12,000,000 sq. ft. of office and industrial real estate, in addition to over 20,000 apartment units.  He also serves as President of Distribution Unlimited, Inc., one of the largest third-party logistics companies in the Northeast.

Since 1985, he has been active in developing Brownfield projects including former military facilities as well as inner city sites. In 2010, he was recognized by the New York League of Conservation Voters for the construction of a 250,000 sq. ft. gold-level LEED certified building on a contaminated manufacturing site in Schenectady, NY.

Prior to his appointment as COO, Mr. Buicko served from 1982 in a variety of roles at the Galesi Group, including Chief Financial Officer.  From 1975 to 1982, he was a Certified Public Accountant for Marvin & Co., P.C. where his primary responsibilities included mergers and acquisitions, corporate tax and security work.

Mr. Buicko’s active role in the community has merited a number of honorable recognitions. In 1996 and again in 2006, Mr. Buicko was named Executive of the Year by Schenectady County Chamber of Commerce for his instrumental role in environmentally friendly economic development. In 2008, Mr. Buicko was honored by the Albany Times Union as “Dozen Who Make a Difference” in the Capital Region. In 2012, Mr. Buicko received the Capital District YMCA 2012 President’s Award for helping strengthen the community in downtown Schenectady and was also named as “Executive of the Year” in The Business Review’s 2012 Class of Achievers. Most recently Mr. Buicko received the 2014 Schenectady Foundation Hero Award for Leadership and Service. In 2019 he was named a Schenectady Patroon, the highest award Schenectady bestows upon its citizens.

Mr. Buicko is a member and director of a variety of local, professional, economic development and charitable organizations. He is a Director and past Chairman of the Center for Economic Growth, a regional economic development organization. In 2013 Mr. Buicko was selected by Governor Cuomo to serve as a member of the Capital Regional Economic Development Council and the Reimagine Canal Task Force.  He also serves on the board of numerous privately held companies in the real estate industry. Mr. Buicko is a Board Member of the Chemung Canal Trust Company.
