SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Construction continues on the future Rivers Casino and Mohawk Harbor Project and we got an inside look at how the site is progressing.
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara toured the site on Wednesday along with local developers and business leaders.
Work is moving quickly on 206 riverfront apartments and the neighboring Marriott hotel is almost complete.
Developers are now negotiating with businesses to fill retail spaces there and say they’re excited to offer something unique to the electric city.
“It’s something the Capital Region doesn’t have. You’ve got options to have waterfront residential, office and retail so from that standpoint we’re pretty excited. We’re actually starting to take deposits on the apartments, starting to negotiate leases for the retail, we’ve got a swimming pool, fire pits, and it’s probably to coolest place to live. Plus, you’re really less than a mile from downtown Schenectady,” said David Buicko, Galesi Group President.
We’re told the construction is about three or four months ahead of schedule and The Rivers Casino is expected to open in early 2017.
