Schenectady casino opening one week away
SCHENECTADY – Excitement is building in Schenectady, where Rivers Casino opens in exactly one week.
What was begun by a statewide referendum has now become a local reality. The industrial brownfield that sat vacant along the banks of the Mohawk River for decades has now been converted into the Rivers Casino and Resort.
“This is not about a casino. I think we got the license and the award from the location board because it was about a bigger project. It’s one of the largest brownfield developments in Upstate New York. We’re taking a mile of riverfront and excessing it,” David Buicko with the Galesi Group.
The 50,000 square foot gaming floor is now essentially complete.
