Rotterdam Corporate Park lands 2 new tenants
Business Center gains tenants

A new small business center in the Rotterdam Corporate Park has landed its first two tenants, which are bringing at least 27 jobs to the site, a local economic development official said.
Seven of those jobs are relocating from a home-based business in Glenville and 20 are new jobs, according to Ray Gillen, commissioner of Economic Development and Planning for Schenectady County.
The companies, BBX Transportation and Cutting Edge Wood Flooring, signed leases for Building 3 in the park, which is near the Thruway and Interstate 88, and are moving in, Gillen said.
The Galesi Group last year converted the 270,000 square-foot former Army depot building into 24 sections, each consisting of approximately 11,000 square feet, for small to medium-sized businesses.
Gillen said BBX will establish a regional truck terminal with 20 employees. The terminal will prove transportation and logistic services to area customers, including Railex USA. Railex operates a 250,000 square-foot distribution facility in the corporate park. Gillen said BBX is the first company to follow Railex into the park since Railex opened there in 2006.
BBX President Robert Lewis said in a news release its Rotterdam location, with its proximity to the Thruway, “provides the perfect solution to our facilities needs.”
Cutting Edge of Glenville is relocating to Rotterdam after 11 years because the business is growing, said owner Rick Frederick. The company expects to double its workforce of seven people within the next few years, he said.
Cutting Edge refinishes and installs wood flooring and specializes in furniture repair and restoration.
Galesi spent more than $1 million of its own money and $2 million in state grants to convert Building 3 into the small business center. National Grid provided $100,000 toward the project through its economic development fund. Rotterdam town officials secured state grants through the Restore NY Communities initiative, Gillen said.
Rotterdam Supervisor Steve Tommasone said in a prepared statement the two tenants are a “great addition to Rotterdam, and we look forward to many more to come as we fill up this great new facility at the Rotterdam Corporate Park.”
