Mohawk Harbor casino development clears big hurdle in Schenectady

The Galesi Group’s proposed $450 million Mohawk Harbor development in Schenectady, New York cleared a big hurdle Wednesday as the Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority unanimously approved the project.
The Metroplex approved an amended state environmental quality review for the development that that includes a hotel, condos, retail stores and possibly a casino along the 60-acre Mohawk River property.
The amended review was required because the developer, The Galesi Group, wants to include a $300 million casino in the plans that was not envisioned when the initial environmental review was completed in 2010.
