Insurance agency opening office at Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady

Haylor, Freyer & Coon Inc., an insurance and risk management agency, will open its eastern New York regional office at Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady, New York.

The roughly 3,000-square-foot office will open in mid-December at Two Harbor Center, a 65,000-square-foot-plus mixed-use building at Mohawk Harbor.

“Over the years, we have seen tremendous growth in our Syracuse, Rochester, Watertown, Ithaca and Binghamton locations, ” CEO Jim Freyer said in a prepared statement. “It made sense to continue our successful model of distinctive and exceptional service in eastern New York and Mohawk Harbor is definitely the place to be.”

HF&C has started staffing the office, which will have 10 to 15 employees when at capacity. They will work with George Mahoney, a risk management adviser in Schenectady.

“As a full service agency, we are looking to complement our commercial business presence with a full staff of group benefits and personal insurance advisers,” Freyer said.

Based in Syracuse, HF&C has 180 employee-owners.

Mohawk Harbor was built by The Galesi Group of Rotterdam. The $150 million mixed-use development is next to the $330 million Rivers Casino & Resort. The Galesi Group partnered with Rush Street Gaming of Chicago to build the casino.
