First slot machines arrive at Schenectady's new Rivers Casino
SCHENECTADY – It’s another major milestone for the new Rivers Casino & Resort being built in Schenectady.
The first 100 slot machines arrived on Tuesday morning.
The delivery is the start of the 1,142 machines the casino will have on its 50,000 square foot gaming floor. That’s in addition to 67 gaming tables and 15 poker tables.
“The New York Commission regulates slot machines. This is a shipment from Konami in Las Vegas, so when the truck is loaded, it’s sealed and its seal has to be verified that it’s not broken between Vegas and here in Schenectady. So you break the seal and then you record each machine’s serial numbers and then validate it with the commission. That’s what they approved to be shipped and that’s what we received,” explained Rivers Casino CEO Mary Cheeks.
