Zio’s at the Trolley Stop to Open in Early 2019
Schenectady, N.Y., November 14, 2018, The Galesi Group today announced that Zio’s at the Trolley Stop will open at Mohawk Harbor in early 2019.
“I am impressed with all the new development happening at Mohawk Harbor and downtown Schenectady. The City is moving in a great positive direction and I just want to be a part of it,” said Owner Joe Bennett.
Zio’s at the Trolley Stop will occupy approximately 4,400 square feet of space at Two Harbor Center including an outdoor patio with a restored dine-in trolley.
Bennett, originally from Ithaca, has experience operating restaurants in Upstate New York. He named the restaurant using a word he grew up with from the Italian side of his family, since Zio (zee-o) means uncle in Italian. Using his family recipes, Zio’s simple Southern Italian menu will offer homemade pasta, pizza, craft beer, and wine. “It’s going to be a place to come laugh, drink, and eat good quality food” Bennett said.
David Buicko, Galesi Group CEO said, “We are pleased to welcome Zio’s to Mohawk Harbor. This will be another reason for people to visit Mohawk Harbor. It will also provide the more than 1,500 employees and residents who live and work on-site another choice for dining.”
Construction will begin this fall with an anticipated opening date in early 2019. In addition to this location, Zio’s is under construction at 40 River Street in Troy. The company plans to open ten restaurants nationwide in the next four years.
