The Galesi Group is honored to be named as one of the Capital Region’s 2013 Largest Privately Held Companies. While today Galesi is ranked as the 13th largest privately held company in the area, nearly 45 years ago the company started as a small Capital Region business with less than 10 employees.

In 1969 Chairman, Francesco Galesi, purchased surplus military facilities in Voorheesville and Rotterdam and converted them into major business parks. The conversion of these properties, totaling 8 million square feet, subsequently led the Galesi Group to establish itself as one of the largest Commercial Real Estate Development firms in New York State.

Today the Galesi Group, wholly owned by Francesco Galesi, is comprised of an experienced team of over 550 professionals with holdings nationwide in real estate, third party logistics and oil and gas.

Despite the fact that the “small business” has grown to become one of the largest companies in the area, the Galesi Group still holds the small business values established in 1969.

 Since 1983 The Business Review has selected the Capital Region’s most dynamic, innovative and promising companies, organizations, and businesspeople to award and represent as the year’s class of Achievers.

The 2012 class of Achievers have been chosen because they have had a lasting impact on the economy, creating jobs, pioneering new technologies and finding ways to thrive in a post-recession.

Award categories include Executive of the Year, Newsmaker, Promising Newcomer, Company of the Year, Nonprofit of the Year, Game Changer, and Special Recognition.

The Executive of the Year award nominee must be a vice president or higher in a company with at least 100 employees. He or she should have been with a profitable company for at least a year and his or her contribution must be apparent and deserving of the award. Success must be demonstrated in a quantifiable way.

On Friday, August 24, 2012, the Galesi Group was a proud sponsor of the Boys and Girls Club of Schenectady, 5th Annual James T. Cullen Memorial Golf Classic at the Mohawk Golf Club. The proceeds of this event went to support the Boys and Girls Club of Schenectady to help continue its efforts in enhancing the lives of over 10,000 disadvantaged youth and open new opportunities.

Since 1936, the Boys and Girls Club of Schenectady has been helping the youth of all backgrounds develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders. Annually over 10,000 children ranging in age from 6-18 come from economically, socially and educationally disadvantaged sections of Schenectady to participate in our programs and have a safe place to learn and grow.

The Galesi Group is one of the leaders in the rebirth of downtown Schenectady as such it is critical to foster a meaningful interaction between the area youth and the business community. The Galesi Group recognizes and supports the Boys and Girls Club as they help shape the youth of tomorrow and add to the renewed vibrancy of our community.
